Frame hardtail is bolt on type. Accepts drum style brakes on a rigid frame. Unit should be aligned for chain clearance prior to final welding. DIY hardtailing is easy to install as the alignment os accomplished in the mount design provided. The distance between the inside to inside of the axle plates is 9-5/16". Custom application on 1952-1978 XL. Welding should be performed by a skilled technician.

The width of the tail section should be exactly 9-1/8". Due to the welding process this may vary slightly & builder will need to modify accordingly.
